While I took that as a compliment, my friends perceived it as a tongue lashing instead. This actually stemmed from me questioning whether they were offering VW's 8 valve 1.6 MPI producing only 102hp or 1.6 FSI engine producing 115hp in the "new" Octavia A5 when we went car hunting last weekend.

Unfortunately, they continue to pair the horribly underpowered wheezy MPI with the heavy Octavia but do offer the FSI as a 8k upgrade, putting them into a premium medium-sized continental car category instead... which still baffles me how Exclusiv is just running the brand into the ground.

As to the question posed why anybody would want to buy Skoda now that it's big thrust into the public's eye is through Silver Arrow's use of diesl Superb in its fleet. She countered that taxi companies make very careful choices when making their purchases and it's just another testament to the quality of Skoda cars and that continental taxis can be maintained as cheaply as their japanese counterparts.
