Lemming's Insane Ranting

Just had a call from the recruitment consultant that I sent my CV out to this morning. The short interview was good and she's really sweet and funny! Looking forward to meeting her on Monday for the whole she-bang. (pun NOT intended!)

In the meantime, she's sending my resume over to her client Fujitsu for the job, fingers cross for good news on Monday!

Which brings me to this other interview afterwards, it's just the first round and I'm not really interested in the job since it's not a programming role unlike the one being offered by Fujitsu, which is almost exactly what I'm looking for, dealing with user and interfaces and applying user-centric design that my thesis was based on. Meaning... I'm more relaxed about the interview afterwards... not going to wear a suit now! Muahahha!!!

Just came back from a few laps around the pool, which was more crowded than usual, not with the usual lap dancers but with kids... jumping into the lap pool and then following me into the spa for some aqua-robics or something that they were doing... maybe it was a challenge to me on who could hold their breathe longer coz he was underwater for quite a long time... Bah... youthful kids and the world being their oyster....

Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe Suite was going through my mind during my swim, which is far better than the Crash test dummy song haunting me last night... Really enjoyed the SSO's performance last Sat... which was the same programme they did for V-day. Hence my forlorn emotions?

Didn't like their ending of La Valse though. Was thinking during Suite II that the song would make a lovely piece for SYF and loe and behold, there actually IS a band transcription! You can hear the tricky brass part that caught my year and screamed "band show-off piece", the jap band didn't pull it off very well, but than again, these are SSO trumpeters, blew me away that segment!!! Then again, SSO concerts are always good value for money, especially when it's a $25 student rush ticket! =P

During the pre-concert talk, they touched on how Ravel has listened to Rimsky-Korsakov's Scherazade over and over again and I could hear the theme in Suite II... plagarism, or is this a case of imitation being the best form of flattery?

Got woken up by a phone call and turns out it's a recruiter for a job I applied for.

Fielded the normal questions about visas, work experience and career goal. Then he wanted to ask me technical questions. Which I know is definately a segment of the interview that really counts and not something that one should be tackling out of bed... but I went for it anyways... got almost everything right! Damn SMTP and POP3 port numbers!

Anywyas, passed the tests... am technically capable. So have been shortlisted for a few jobs. Gotta wait for a good one I'm guessing. Me want a programming one!!!

Twas a good day....

Just watched Wedding Daze, as kinda a reward... *roll eyes* for the training session and the elation of having been the 6 out of 50 applicants that were selected. Out of the 6, I'm the only one from UNSW, the rest are from Sydney Uni... kinda interesting that they didn't even bother to post an ad at Macquarie?!

Anyways, employer volunteered to be a reference for me, without even me asking! Gosh, and I haven't even started work proper yet, just turning up early! =O I know, Sir-plise!

Employer basically came up with the idea whilst working PT during his uni days and started a company straight after graduation. Sigh...such courage, which is exactly what I don't have and a technopeuneur needs... the ability to accept failure.

The thing is that the very year he started the company and developed the technology, I was dealing with the exact same device myself, same software, same platform... a B2C solution too. Fate... you bitch! Oh well, I guess right now I can talk abit of shop and try to find out what makes this guy tick and how he got around all this success being a one-man team.

Work is work I guess, though lower than my previous jon... well actually the same since it's tax free cash... it should be an interesting experience providing support at a trade fair.

Just came out of a research participation thing I volunteered for, $15 richer now, whoohoo! What's good is that I learnt something about myself too, those post-event dwelling things I go through is actually called "rumination".

Apparently I'm an interesting test-subject, stayed to chat with the researcher for quite awhile after everything was done... maybe I should have charged him more for that "consultation" session! =P
