Puss Puss & Meow Meow

Well well, a Skypephone... nothing really sensational, Skype probably first appeared on the Sony Mylo but that was positioned more of an after thought application amongst AIM & MSN Messanger, 3's Skypephone specifically carries the Skype brand and name. It's even got Skype UI built it!

OK ok, so what this really means is that mum & pops can go buy a phone and make skype calls without some fancy smancy dongle or having to install some 3rd party app on an expensive smartphone. The Skypephone has it right on ROM (I'm assuming here...). Skype-to-Skype calls are absolutely free!!! What's more, Skype-to-Skype messanging is available too! It's IM on the go! Isn't that we've always been asking for? Being able to IM your friends from your phone?! Ok sure, there's SMS but carriers charge you the moon for sending a 180 character "global" piece of text. I'm not exactly sure though whether it's actually completely free using Skype-to-Skype traffic, I mean they don't charge you for the call but do they charge you for the data sent and recieved to and from your mobile carrier aka 3?

So triple play is all the rage and the iPhone can now be hacked for 3rd party apps so you can install Skupe on that and kinda get away with making free VOIP calls since all iPhones are bundled with AT&T's unlimited data plan but with some fixed-line telcos feeling the head and embarking on the trend to discriminate VOIP traffic from normal data, buying a Skypephone or at least a Skype-friendly or insert-your-VSP mobile carrier might be the best long term solution if Skype is really your thing now.

I wonder too if a voice chat using MSN or any other IM can be labled as VOIP traffic, they won't be encapsulated in SIP...well at least the NET end of it... but how many people use their IMs to make PC to PC calls? It's an interesting phenomenom I think that people rather use a specific PC-to-PC application to make voice calls which reminds me of the old days where we relied on Roger Wilco for our multiplayer games though post game talk turned out more like a conference call going on with n-number of conversation strands much like IRC. Of course, the latency didn't help either... which is another story altogether on how iffy VOIP actually is being based on UDP/SIP.

In other news, I call the cat "meow meow" which my Maori housemate remarked as "How Asian". He goes "puss puss"... so go figure how that works out? We label things by the sound they make as compared to using actualu recognized nouns sanctioned by the Oxford dictionary? Is that somehow somewhat an Asian trait?

Anyways, I still dispise the cat... I blame her for taking the dog away... She is afterall an absolutely poor replacement for men's best friend. I was decribing the situation to ABC likening the dog to a baby and the cat to a rebellious child. The dog you see can be taught tricks like a parent teaches a baby to recognize words and then shows said trick off to other loving parents whilst serving up the obligatory "My child is smarter than yours and is going to ". Your dog or baby is always around so that you can shower it with love and it will reciprocated in kind with equal amounts of slobbering and coo-ing. In fact the dog trumphs baby in this manner that it remains loyal and patient whereas the baby can get rather demanding for attention and this is where you pass said the over-attention needing kid over to the female of the species. Like it is with your teenage kid, the feline tramp is never around when you need them and appears only when they need to be fed or in the other case, needs money to feed. Attention from you is demanded as and when they feel like rubbing up to you and then just as abruptly that they appear, they disappear without returning the favour.

It ceases to amaze me why people keep cats at all... do they love the misery of caring for the ingrate? IMHO, dogs are and will always remain man's best friend.

377A is Legal Discrimination!

Legal discrimination against same sex couples should be removed, he added.

Views of a Christian; It's a Matter of Choice

Thou shalt have no other God before Me
The first commandment, the most important law for Christians, which basically says - I am your only God.

So picture this - Someone starts a website to promote Christianity as the only religion to be incorporated into Singapore law, there will definitely be a repeal Christianity website soon enough. This scenario sounding familiar to you yet? There are two side of a coin, what matters is that there are two sides.

The above scenario is probably the best way to make the left-wing Christians (whom are being portrayed to be the main protagonist behind the fight to retain section 377A) realise their stand. It's to present the matter from their point of view. The first commandment is law, but should it be THE law?

Religion is currently a choice in Singapore and should rightly remain so. Singapore remains founded on the premise of a non-discriminating nation - One united people, regardless of race, language or religion. How does section 377a fit into that ideal then? Why shouldn't there be a freedom of choice with one's sexual preference as there is a choice in religion?

Retaining 377A robs people of a choice. It's the best way of making it easy for those few of my brothers whom are not practicing brother love... I might be viewed as a heretic to my brothers but I strongly believe that one shouldn't be forcing others to subscribe to your views and beliefs.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

I bloodee know that Roses are bloodee red!

Let's fall in love --
Why shouldn't we fall in love?

Having somewhat of a rose tinted day today... "Let's fall In Love" keeps playing over and over in my head... Even when the moisturiser gel out of the pump-bottle was heart shaped.

Sigh...

Collegue popped over and asked "Quick, off the top of the head, what's your favourite band?" and I blurted out "Smashing pumpkins...wait I mean Smashmouth". Well actually I asked him to define favourite bands before that but he asked for watever came to mind... Mika came to mind actually but it's more of a current sensation more than an old favourite...

I was psycho-analysing the whole thing later and was wondering if he was the type that gets an impression from somebody from the music that they like. So I poppped on over later and passed him my iPod for his gander. Seems like we both like Jazz! Got passed some Juju Orchestra love to try out...Mmmmm... Juju.
