Architect's Fish & Chips

Interestingly, somebody remembered my comment about me being a huge sucker for Fish & Chips! So I was brought to Point Hotel just for their Beer Battered Fish & Chippys...mmm, so much nicer then the horrid one I had the last time at my stopover on the way home from work at Randwick...gah, that had fishy taste all over the languid barramandi fillet! Sadly though, it wasn't worth the $19 they charged for the 2 small pieces of fish. No bones, no dramas though? Tried sangiovese over the grenache, think light reds are all that I can handle for the moment...

Had a discussion over how apparently fish & chips wasn't gourmet food and later got introdued to this brilliant show called Posh Nosh [wiki]. It's a hoot!!! Darren, you're sure to love this comedy!

Simon and Minty prepare various dishes ranging from architect's fish and chips to bread AND butter pudding, offering snooty and frequently surreal commentary along the way. For instance, they employ words in odd ways in parody of specific culinary terminology, such as "interrogate a lemon"; and their cooked vegetables are not peeled but "embarrassed," after which they might be "annoyed" instead of boiled. They also frequently insist on ultra-specific, often prohibitively expensive, ingredients - such as Greek currants that you actually have to fly to Greece to buy.

At the same time, a thread of domestic tension (and often hostility) runs beneath the surface of every exchange between Simon and Minty, along with some not-so-subtle hints about Simon's sexual orientation. An running joke in the series is Simon's crush on David Tennant. Both Marchmonts are obsessed with their dog, Sam, going so far as to throw a birthday party (complete with other dog guests) for him.

I so want to adopt a chicken after watching it! Why? Because you get letters from your adopted children! Like what Simon said, "Adopting a child is so 80s...". =P

Finally managed to break the question today, what a relief that I've gotten it off my chest. Next, off to work tomorrow to get more stuff off my chest! Else, I might really just plug in that faulty unit and let it burn away slowly releasing its toxic fumes!
